What are Solar Panels

Solar panels are also known as photovoltic panels. Solar panels absorb sunlight and then convert sunlight to electrical energy. Means solar panels convert photo means light into electricity. This is also known as solar energy. Solar Panels are made of silicon. Solar Panels are of mainly two types one is poly solar panels and second is mono solar panels

A solar panel is basically a collection of many solar cells,that can be used to generate electricity through photovoltaic effect. These cells are arranged in a grid pattern on the surface of solar panels with a glass.

Thus, it may also be called as solar module, mounted on a structure supporting it. A  solar panel is a packaged and connected assembly of 6×10 solar cells. 

When it comes to wear-and-tear, these solar  panels are very hardy. Solar panels wear out extremely slow. In a year, their effectiveness and energy decreases only about one to two per cent per year

Most solar panels are made up using crystalline silicon solar cells. 

Installation of solar panels in homes helps in decreasing the harmful emissions of harmful gases and  helps reduce global warming. Solar panels do not lead to any form of pollution and are clean. Solar panels  also decrease our reliance on fossil fuels and traditional power sources. 

These days, solar panels are used in wide-ranging electronic equipments like calculators, which work as long as sunlight is available. 

Working Of Solar Panels
When photons hit a solar cell, they knock electrons loose from their atoms. If conductors are attached to the positive and negative sides of a cell, it forms an electrical circuit. When electrons flow through such a circuit, they generate electricity. Multiple cells make up a solar panel, and multiple panels (modules) can be wired together to form a solar array. The more panels you can deploy, the more energy you can expect to generate.


Solar Panels Efficiency


The efficiency is the most common used parameter to compare the performance of a solar cell to another solar cell in a solar panel. Efficiency is defined as the ratio of energy output from the solar cell of a solar panel to input energy from the sun. In addition to reflecting the performance of the solar cell itself, the efficiency depends on the spectrum and intensity of the incident light and the temperature of the solar cell. Therefore, conditions under which efficiency is measured must be carefully controlled in order to compare the performance of one device to another. Terrestrial solar cells are measured under AM1.5 conditions and at a temperature of 25°C. Solar cells intended for space use are measured under AM0 conditions. 

Applications of Solar Panels
There are many practical applications for the use of solar panels.Solar panels are used in homes as a power source. It can first be used in agriculture as a power source for irrigation. In health care solar panels can be used to refrigerate medical supplies. It can also be used for infrastructure. PV modules are used in photovoltaic systems and include a large variety of electric devices:
